Curatorial Statement

The artists displayed in this exhibit all have one huge commonality; astronomic imagination. These artists are able to take real objects outside of earth's atmosphere and either accurately depict them on a comprehensible scale or twist them to there own imaginative landscape. All artists stretch the boundaries of creativity and meaning, however, these artists take that boundary and stretch it to fields of knowledge that for most are extremely hard to comprehend. The immense scale and depth of the universe will never be completely understood by any human, but the creativity and unknown of the universe is stretched beyond imagination. Through these artists, the real and unreal are explored and reprocessed through a visual comprehensive exhibition.

Biography

As a kid, I had always looked up into the depths of the sky and wondered what was out there.  Shows like Across the Universe and How the Universe Works were my favorite shows. Through these visual representations of the cosmos, my imagination soared. I began diving into every Astronomy website, book, movie or show I could find and furthered my knowledge of the unknown. I then got my first telescope entering my teen years and did nothing but stare at the craters of the moon or the rings of Saturn or even the centuries long storm on Jupiter. Fascinated by the physics and unknown, I began to study astronomy and astrophysics in school. Unfortunately, my knowledge for the cosmos did not stretch into the complexity of physics in space. The immense and unbelievable amount of mathematics and mere mental skill to comprehend the formulas and rules of space were too much, so I stuck with the visual aspects of space rather than the physics. These artists were able to properly and accurately depict the cosmos and the objects within it.
